On Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, officers from the Florence Police Department were dispatched to a shooting that occurred at the Southern Oaks Apartments, located at 1301 Hermitage Drive. Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement personnel found a deceased minor in the parking lot. In response to the tragic event, detectives quickly established a crime scene and began interviewing witnesses to gather more information.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased juvenile, along with another minor, had allegedly planned to rob the individuals involved in the incident. As detectives continued their inquiries, an individual linked to the case approached the Florence Police Department while officers were still on the scene, providing further context to the unfolding situation.
To further their investigation, detectives, with the assistance of the Florence/Lauderdale SWAT Team, executed search warrants in both Franklin County and Colbert County throughout the early morning hours. By approximately 3 a.m., a teenager was apprehended by the Florence Police and subsequently charged with First-Degree Robbery and Felony Murder.
The following day, on March 27th, 2025, a hearing was held where the bond for the minor defendant was established at $100,000. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding this incident to reach out to Detective Price at 256-760-6500.
