Joan McLean Edwards, age 95, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed from this life into her eternal home with her Lord on June 28, 2024, at NHC Scott Healthcare.
She was born in Lawrenceburg on June 25, 1929, to William Charles and Kathleen Busby McLean. She was the fifth of six children. She graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1946. She married Harvel Coleman Edwards, Jr. on November 4, 1948. They raised two sons. Most of her life was dedicated to being a mother, homemaker, and a caregiver to her extended family. Her dedication to our Lord was demonstrated through her faithful service at First Baptist Church where she attended faithfully, participated in choir and WMU, served on the bereavement committee and taught children’s Sunday School and Bible Drill. She also enjoyed gathering with several girl friends in a special group called the “Sewing Club”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, locally known as Junior Edwards, her parents and four siblings: Inez Oliver, Stribling McLean, Evelyn Morrow, and Marjorie Anderson.
She is survived by two sons: Harvel C. “Finny” Edwards (Myra) of Shelbyville, TN, and Jonathan M. Edwards (Cindy) of Lawrenceburg, TN, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge NHC Scott Healthcare and The Summit of Lawrenceburg and their great staffs for wonderful care provided in these last years, along with Linda Bassham who assisted her at home.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 03, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 03, 2024, with Jeff Vanlandingham officiating. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
