Bertie Lee Johnson, 86, of Loretto, TN, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at NHC Healthcare-Lawrenceburg after an extended illness. She was a retired employee of Salant & Salant and a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church. Bertie was a native of Lawrence County, TN.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita Birdyshaw (Eddie) and Sissy Fowler (Brent Stanford) of Greenhill, AL, and her son, Tony Johnson (Cindy) of Loretto, TN. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Rohling, and her brother, Fred Simbeck Jr., both of Loretto, TN. Bertie leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Bertie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Johnson, her daughter Rhonda Killen, her parents Fred and Georgia Fisher Simbeck, her sisters Brenda Walters and Martha Landtroop, and her brother Larry Simbeck.
Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 11:00 am, with James Prince officiating. Burial will follow in Loretto Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to NHC Brink and Caris Health for their care and support during Bertie’s illness. Bertie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
