James Dennis Bailey, age 77, of Ethridge, Tennessee, (originally a Summertown resident) passed away on April 2, 2026.
Dennis was born on March 11, 1949, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, to the late James Edward Bailey and Mary Willadean Whitehead Bailey. He spent his entire life rooted in Lawrence County, where he built a legacy of hard work, faith, and dedication to family.
A skilled machinist and welder, Dennis was self-employed for many years and devoted over four decades to his trade before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.
Dennis was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years, where he served in many roles throughout the years. His faith was a central part of his life, and he often reflected on God’s guidance and promises.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Bailey, John Bailey, and Darrell Bailey; one grandson, Noah Bailey; and son-in-law, Brian Gallett.
He was united in marriage to Laura Clark Bailey on February 16, 1968, in Summertown, Tennessee. Together they built a loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Clark Bailey; his children: Allison Bailey Emler (Prentice); Harlan Bailey; Shannon Bailey Gallett; Daniel Bailey (Pam); his grandchildren: Eli Emler, Shawna Emler, Katelyn Johnston, Levi Bailey, Micah Bailey, Abigale Bailey, Sam Gallett, Maryella Bailey, and a large extended family including siblings, Eddie Hunt, Gloria Bailey Farris, Gary Bailey, Terry Bailey, and Donnie Bailey.
Dennis will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to his family, and his enduring faith. As reflected in his favorite scripture, 2 Timothy 4:7, he lived a life striving to fight the good fight and finish his course.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2026, with Clint Bassham officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
