Sarah Jo Almon, 86, of Florence, passed away on February 20, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Thomas Almon; parents, John Wilson and Alice Bruce; and sister, Peggy Ruth Bruce. Sarah is survived by her children Brenda Almon Morton (Jim), Amy McCormack (Mike), and Bruce Almon (Tracey); grandchildren, Dr. Daniel Almon (Ashley), Dr. Andrew Almon (Carrie), Samuel Almon (Chloe McLeary), Shaun McCormack (Lacy), and Katie McCormack. Additional survivors include great-grandchildren, Ian Thomas Almon, Ruby Almon, Avery Almon, Riley Almon, Sophia Almon, and Carson McCormack.
Sarah had a deep appreciation for history and a strong connection to her Scottish heritage. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all forms of art. She and Tom cherished their travels along the county roads, often pausing to admire the scenery along the way. They shared sixty-five wonderful years together, many of which were spent in the tranquility of their beloved cabin.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 23 at Williams Funeral Home from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Greenview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wesley Thompson officiating. Bagpipes will be played by Piper Don Neal. Children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Preferred Hospice, directors of The Cottages, caregivers, and her dear friend Janice Kennedy. Sarah will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
