Sarah Helen “Granny” Lamar, age 96, of Pulaski, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on February 16, 2025. She was born on November 6, 1928. Helen, affectionately known as “Granny” by everyone that knew her, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Fairview Church of Christ for many years and always kept her faith near. Granny was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, cheering them on with the crossing of her fingers and the motioning of her pretend tomahawk. She will always be remembered for her fighter spirit, infectious laughter, loving wisdom, and devotion to her family. To know her was the understanding that you were loved beyond words, much like she poured her love into her egg custard pies. She will be forever missed but leaves a little of her sprinkled in each one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The memories she gave us will forever be shared.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Odis Milton Lamar, parents, Fred and Sarah Hood Howell, step-mother, Grace Howell, son, Thomas Lamar, 3 sisters, and 7 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Holly of Pulaski, TN, son, James (Beth) Lamar of Wartrace, TN, son, Rickie Lamar of Pulaski, TN, grandchildren, Tommy (Elisha) Lamar, Tiffany (Joey) Kimbrough, Lisa McClellan, Glenn (Rainey) Holly, Carl (Amanda) Holly, Jamie (Caroline) Lamar, Ryann (Scott) Hrouda, Kelly (Gary) Whitt, Christie Bass, Amber (Donnie) Evans, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. The burial will be in Giles Memory Garden.
