Virginia Transformer Begins New Facility in Muscle Shoals

Virginia Transformer Corporation has commenced site work for a new power transformer manufacturing facility at the Shoals Research Airpark in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. This facility will span 600,000 square feet and is designed to produce transformers with capacities ranging from 2MVA to 500MVA.

This new plant marks Virginia Transformer’s seventh location in the United States. The project is anticipated to create approximately 1,100 new jobs in Colbert County, significantly contributing to the local economy.

Initial production at the facility is expected to begin in January 2028. Officials from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the Muscle Shoals Electric Board expressed their excitement about welcoming Virginia Transformer to the area, highlighting the positive impact this development will have on the community.
