Free Summer Meal Program for Children Launches in 2026

A free summer meal program for children ages 18 and under is set to launch in Summer 2026, providing essential nutrition during the school break. The program will offer prepackaged meal boxes to eligible children, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months.

Each child enrolled in the program may pick up one meal box per week. These boxes will contain seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch meals, specifically designed to meet children’s dietary needs during the summer.

Preregistration is required for families wishing to participate, an important step to ensure the program can effectively prepare and distribute the meal boxes.

The first meal deliveries are scheduled for May 26 and May 27, marking the official start of the program. Families can collect their meal boxes at several designated locations, including Loretto High School at 525 Second Avenue South in Loretto, Faith Church Lawrenceburg at 2009 Massey Avenue in Lawrenceburg, and Summertown Baptist Church at 90 Highway 20 in Summertown.

Meal pickups will occur at specific times to facilitate distribution. On Tuesdays, families can collect their boxes from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM and again from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There will also be a pickup time on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM.

For more information about the program or to complete the preregistration process, interested families can contact the program’s helpline at 731-513-7262.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to provide essential meals to children during the summer, ensuring they have access to nutritious food when school is not in session.
