A tragic motorcycle accident occurred Thursday night in Lauderdale County, resulting in the death of a Florence resident. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has identified the victim as 64-year-old Ralph L. Brown.
According to ALEA, Brown was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportster Custom when the incident took place. Reports indicate that he lost control of the motorcycle, which veered off the road, collided with a culvert, and subsequently struck a stop sign. This unfortunate event unfolded around 8:45 p.m. on Alabama 157, specifically near the 79-mile marker, situated approximately one mile north of Florence.
Following the crash, Brown was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for urgent medical attention. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the facility. The Highway Patrol Division of ALEA is actively conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
