In a tragic incident this week, the death of a three-month-old infant has been associated with the arrest of a man identified as Sonny Summers Jr. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has charged Summers with chemical endangerment of a child, following the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the child’s demise.
Emergency responders from County Fire were dispatched to the scene promptly and initiated life-saving measures in an effort to revive the infant. However, when HEMSI arrived, their attempts to resuscitate the baby proved futile, leading to the heartbreaking declaration of the child’s death at the location.
Investigations revealed that the infant’s father, Summers, had been using methamphetamine in the vicinity of the child and continued to care for the baby after his drug use. Following his arrest, Summers was processed at the Madison County Jail. According to the records from the jail, he was released later that same day after posting a bond set at $20,000.
