Deputies Rescue Infant at Tuscumbia Intersection

In a remarkable display of quick thinking and teamwork, deputies from Colbert County played a crucial role in saving the life of a two-week-old infant early Thursday morning. The incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. on August 21, when deputies were called to the intersection of Highways 43 and 72. Upon arrival, they found a visibly distressed mother cradling her unresponsive baby.

Deputies Luke Truitt, Dakota Harper, and Frank Anderson, under the guidance of Lt. Michael Terrell, sprang into action without hesitation. Deputy Anderson took immediate charge of the situation, securing the infant and initiating lifesaving procedures while being transported in Deputy Truitt’s patrol vehicle. The deputies, with the support of Tuscumbia Police, conducted a code escort to Helen Keller Hospital, ensuring that every second counted.

Thanks to their swift and coordinated efforts, the infant reached the emergency room in a timely manner, where medical staff were able to provide urgent care.
