On Friday, May 9th, deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence to execute a probation warrant for an individual. Upon their arrival, they encountered the father of the individual in the front yard, who subsequently guided them into the home where the subject was located. Inside the living room, they found Johnathon Cody Wilson seated and ready for interaction. The deputies informed Wilson about the probation warrant and explained that he would be eligible for a release on his own recognizance, provided someone could come to pick him up.
Before his departure, Wilson expressed a desire to smoke a cigarette, which the deputies permitted. He proceeded to the back room, but as the deputy followed him, he noticed that Wilson began to exhibit signs of nervousness and started reaching for items on the counter. The deputies instructed Wilson to cease his actions, but when he failed to comply, they took the decision to detain him. During a standard search, a glass meth pipe was discovered in Wilson’s pocket.
After securing Wilson in the patrol car, the deputies were granted permission to conduct a search of the residence. This search led to the discovery of a small wooden box containing several clear baggies with a crystalline residue, two used needles, a funnel with residue, and a straw also containing residue. Following these findings, Wilson was transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he was booked on the existing Violation of Probation warrant. Additionally, a new warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was issued and served to him.
