Sheffield Man Taken into Custody for Six-Year Electronic Solicitation of a Minor

Authorities have charged a man from Sheffield after he allegedly sent explicit images to a minor. Corey Williams, a 41-year-old resident, was taken into custody by the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office on May 27th. He faces multiple charges, including four counts of electronic solicitation of a child and two counts of transmitting obscene material to a minor.

The investigation into Williams began in December 2024 when officers from the Tuscumbia Police Department uncovered that he had been sending inappropriate messages and images to the young girl via social media platforms such as Facebook and Snapchat. Reports indicate that Williams initiated contact with the victim in 2019, and by June 2023, the nature of their communications had escalated to become increasingly sexual in nature.

As the conversations progressed, they shifted from light-hearted banter to more explicit discussions involving sexual acts. Investigators noted that Williams expressed frustration when his advances were not reciprocated. Following his arrest, a bond of $120,000 was established, and he was released in under two hours.
