A woman was apprehended on Tuesday after allegedly biting a police officer during an incident at a Wal-Mart in Florence. The situation unfolded when the Florence Police Department received information regarding a pursuit involving deputies from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, who were chasing a stolen vehicle earlier that day. Although the pursuit was called off due to safety concerns, an officer from the Florence Police C.O.P.S. unit was present at the Wal-Mart on Cloverdale Road, intending to capture video footage of the vehicle and its driver, who had been spotted at the store prior to the incident.
As the officer was inside the store, the stolen vehicle entered the parking lot, prompting the officer to confront the driver, identified as Anika-Seani Diane Brady. During the encounter, Brady reportedly resisted arrest and bit the officer on the arm. In response to the situation, a backup officer arrived to assist in the apprehension of Brady. She now faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault on a police officer. Her bond has been set at $5,500, and she is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
Following the altercation, the officer involved received medical attention at a nearby facility and has since been released. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather details.
