February 7, 1936 – January 17, 2024
Barbara Jean Pruitt Keeton, age 87, of Florence passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Greenhill Funeral Home, 11 am until 2 pm with
the funeral at 2pm. Burial at Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery. Brother Greg Reynolds officiating.
Pallbearers: Allen Phillips, David Carpenter, Gary Hanvey, Roger Keeton, Brian Keeton, and
Johnny Keeton.
Honorary Pallbearers: Jonathan Thompson, Chris Rich, Quincy Malone, Bruce Lawson,
Michael Lawson, Steve Pruitt, Ray Pruitt, Chris Pruitt, Barry Pruitt and Lance Pruitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy O. Keeton; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn
Perry; parents, Aldern and Ima Pruitt; sisters and brother-in-laws, Irene Grimes (Emmitt), Lucille
Carpenter (Cump), and Corrine “Bootsie” Lawson (D.L.); brothers and sister-in-laws, Roy Pruitt
(Beatrice), Wayne Pruitt (Jerrell), Orbia Pruitt, and E.R. Pruitt (Faye).
Survivors are her son, Gary N. Keeton (Janice); grandchildren, Kenny Keeton (Teresa), Carrie
Keeton Perry (Bruce); great-grandchildren, Mason Perry, Haley Amis (Brandon), and Jonathan
Thompson; great-great grandchildren, Riley Beth, Jayden, Bentley, Carson and Carter; brother,
Tommy Pruitt, Sr. (Helen); numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was the owner/operator of P&K Western Store for 54 years. She was a born salesperson
and loved all of her customers. She was an avid fisherman and loved being on the river with her
son, Gary and granddaughter, Carrie. She also loved her little dog “Sugarbaby” and cat
“Garfield”.
The family would like to especially thank Nurse Skye at NAMC Critical Care Unit for her
exceptional care and compassion for the family during a difficult time.
