Howard Lane Goode, age 92, of Lawrenceburg, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Rogersville, AL to the late Ruel and Cora Johns Goode. Howard was a loving husband to the late Naola “Nell” Maureen McCormick Goode and a devoted father to his son, Michael Goode, and daughters, Deborah McEwen, Melinda Miller, and Sandra Lynch. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Howard served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had a passion for aviation and worked as a pilot and air traffic controller, and later as the General Manager of The Advocate newspaper. He was also an accomplished author and artist, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and storytelling.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow. Howard will be laid to rest at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website. Howard Lane Goode will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
