Jakie D. Gieske, 85, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on September 3, 2025, at Alive Hospice Residence in Murfreesboro, TN. Born in Loretto, TN, Jakie was a dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He also served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. Jakie was a retired mail truck driver and school bus driver, and he was a beloved member of his community.
Jakie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Brown Gieske, his wife, Mary Lou Townsend Gieske, his sister, Frances Gieske Glover, and his brothers, Joe Gieske and Charles Frank Gieske. He is survived by his two sons, Jay D. Gieske (Felicia) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Jo Jo Gieske (Vangie) of Lawrenceburg, TN, as well as four grandchildren and two sisters, Joanie Hill of Leoma, TN, and Ruth Russ of Florence, AL.
The family will receive friends at Neal Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Alive Hospice.
