Mary Jane Coker “Janie/granny”, of Greenhill, AL, went home to be with her Lord and savior on April 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, comfortably in her home. As we remember her life during this season of Easter and Christ’s resurrection, we find comfort in knowing that because of her unwavering faith in Jesus, this is not a goodbye forever.
Life Summary
The same savior she faithfully loved and shared with others has now welcomed her home. This June, she and the love of her life would have celebrated 65 beautiful years of marriage. She was a devoted wife to Lois Coker, and together they built a home rooted in faith, love, strength and family. Janie had a faith that touched every life she encountered. She carried the love of Christ with her everywhere she went and poured it into everyone blessed enough to know her. She was the kind of woman whose words, prayers, and example drew others close to the Lord. She was a spectacular mother who gave everything she had to her children. She poured her whole heart into raising, loving, encouraging and standing beside them through every season of life. She was so much more than a grandmother. She helped raise, shape, guide them and love them fiercely. She had a tremendous hand in their upbringing. She was also a loving and caring great grandmother to 6 precious great grandchildren. She was a beloved sister and aunt who loved her nieces and nephews just like her own. She was the glue of the family. She was the cook whose kitchen always felt like home. The gardener and flower keeper, whose hands brought beauty and life wherever she went. She was the caretaker who spent her life serving others before herself. Above all, she was a role model, a true Christ follower, a faithful wife and the very picture of a family woman. She was blessed with many dear friends, women who stood faithfully by her side and loved her dearly.
