James L. Woodard, age 87, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on February 6, 2025. He was a 1956 graduate of Lawrence County High School and served in the United States Army. After his military service, he pursued higher education and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and Nashville YMCA Night Law School. Jim dedicated fifty years to the practice of law in Franklin before retiring in 2023 due to declining health.
He was predeceased by his wife, Amy Pamplin Woodard, his parents, Sam and Inez Perry Woodard, and his brother, Wiley Edwin (Bud) Woodard. Jim is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Seigenthaler, niece, Lindsay Seigenthaler, former wives, Sue Clary and Joyce Heitschmidt, former stepson, Ron Dennis, and his three beloved dogs, Bentley, Blu, and Bo Bear.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 09, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on the same day, with interment to follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. Sincere appreciation is extended to the compassionate care provided by Dr. Anne Gifford, Alison Davis, and the entire staff of NHC Place Cool Springs, as well as to Dr. Winston H. Griner, Dr. Woody, Alix, and Carrie Holt for their support during Jim’s illness.
