Malcolm Wayne Byrd, 94, of Leoma, TN, passed away on January 4, 2025, at his home after a brief illness. He was a native of Lauderdale County, AL, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Air Force. Malcolm was a retired teacher and farmer, and a devoted member of Ramah Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 12:00 pm, with Mark Nelson and Arnold Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Centerpoint Methodist Cemetery with military honors at the graveside. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Malcolm is survived by his sons, Randy W. Byrd, Ronnie D. Byrd (Tina), and Shawn Byrd, all of Leoma, TN, and his daughters, Lori Long (Darren) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Lisa Huntley (Geary) of Leoma, TN. He is also survived by his brother, Joe Byrd (Velvie) of Florida, sister Edna Parrott of Leoma, TN, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Richardson Byrd, his parents William Thomas and Nina Jeter Byrd, brothers W.T., James, Frank, Bob, and Louis Byrd, and sisters Mary Gowen and Margie White.
