Marie Gillespie, age 95, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg. Born on Second Creek in Lawrence County, TN, Marie was a dedicated member of the community. She attended school in the area and went on to become a retired teacher’s aide from the Lawrence County School System. She was also a devoted member of Flatwoods Church of Christ and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, William Oscar and Hattie Mae Thomas Williams, and her husband, Lindbergh Gillespie. She is survived by her loving son, Dwayne Gillespie of Lawrenceburg, TN, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with Rodney Livingston officiating. Interment will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Leoma, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be sent via the funeral home’s website at www.nealfuneralhome.net. Marie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
