Mary Jane “Myrt” Howell, age 87, of Pulaski, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2025 at NHC Pulaski. Myrt was born in Pulaski, TN on June 15, 1938 to Boots Delbert and Mary Butcher Shelton. She was a former waitress at The Dixie Maid and was a member of First Baptist Church. Myrt was a loving soul who found her happiness in life by playing, line-dancing, listening to music, reading her Bible, and going to the river to spend time with friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents Boots and Mae Shelton; husband James T. “Bud” Howell; brothers Thomas E. Shelton and Ralph Shelton; brothers-in-law David Rose, Calvin Durham, Charles Lovett; sister-in-law Gay Shelton.
Visitation will be held from 11-12 noon on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 12 noon. Interment will be in Fall River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Pulaski or The American Legion Riders Post 60 in care of Kelly Holley 1786 Williams Hollow Road Pulaski, TN 38478.
Myrt is survived by her son Kerry James Howell of Pulaski; sisters Joann Rose of Pulaski, Paulette Durham of Decatur, Jean Lovett, Nancy Dunnavant (Randy), (niece) Cathie White (Butch) all of Pulaski; sister-in-law Carolyn Shelton of Pulaski; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A special thanks goes to all the staff of NHC Pulaski for their special care and friendship. Carr and Erwin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
