Mary Judy Holden

Mary Judy Holden, 76, of Florence, passed away on March 24, 2025, at UAB in Birmingham, AL. Mary was a dedicated homemaker and a cherished member and piano player at Gray’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was known for her impeccable housekeeping skills and her unmatched talent for baking cornbread and biscuits.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Donald Arthur “Don” Holden, her son Rodney Holden (Amanda), daughter-in-law Melissa Barnes Holden, sisters Joann Moore (Larry) and Sheila Holden (Lexie), brother Keith Wilson (Hilda), grandchildren Hannah Sims (Reno), Eli Holden (Ella), Easton Holden, Emmett Holden, Elli Holden, and great-grandchild Bristol Sims. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling Wilson and Betty Jean Morrison Wilson, her son Clay Stevenson Holden, and daughter-in-law Tonya Michael Holden.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 11:00am – 1:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel, with Jacob Murphree officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Emmaline Stutts Cemetery, with the family serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church or a tree be planted in memory of Mary Holden. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
