Mary Reda Grooms, age 88, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at Countryside Healthcare in Lawrenceburg, TN. She was a lifelong resident of Summertown, TN, a retired seamstress, and a member of Freedom Church of Christ. Mary Reda Grooms was the mother of one daughter, Dorothy Ann Mabry (Ricky); “grandma” to four grandchildren, Anisha Jones (Luke), Ricky Jr. (Jennifer), Andrea Kelly (Shaun), and Ashley Bush (Ben), all of Summertown, TN; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was also “granny” to all the staff and friends at Countryside Healthcare where she loved to play Bingo and participate in all the activities. She is also survived by one sister, Susie Rhyne of South Carolina.
Mary Reda Cole Grooms was born November 18, 1935, and adopted by loving parents, Vestal and Willie Jones Cole as a toddler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mirl Grooms; one sister, Dorothy Cole Kelly; one brother, James Buddy Cole; other siblings include, Betty Williams, Maggie Denny, and Johnny Walton. Pallbearers will be Hunter Jones, Andrew Mabry, Luke Jones, and Ben Bush. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jase Kelly, Eben Bush, Hudson Bush, and Wilson Bush.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Freedom Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted at Freedom Church of Christ at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2024, with Shaun Kelly and Ricky Mabry officiating.
