James L. Fields, age 93, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at The Summit of Lawrenceburg. He was a native of Loretto, TN, owner/operator of North End Barber Shop for over 60 years, and a longtime faithful member of Salem Church of Christ. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a barber for over 70 years and enjoyed his customers and conversations so much that he couldn’t give it up. He was very proud when his grandson came to work with him in 2002. Mr. Fields served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Oliver and Ada Odell Campbell Fields; his wife, Edna Ayers Fields; one son, Steven Fields; four sisters, Betty Eck, Nancy Moore, Doris Ezell, and Mildred Brown; and four brothers, Milton Fields, Kenneth Fields, Bob Fields, and Harold “Shorty” Fields.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Brazier of Lawrenceburg, TN; two grandsons, Clint Brazier (Gretchen) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Jason Brazier (Amanda) of Chattanooga, TN; six great-grandchildren, Reily Brazier, Jenna Brazier, Emily Brazier, Judah Brazier, Elliot Brazier, and Emelia Brazier; one sister, Peggy Kilgore of Smyrna, TN; one brother, Ben Fields of Floresville, TX; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2024, with Jason Brazier, Clint Brazier, and Keith Barnett officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
