Nelle Gertrude Chapman Harrison Greene, 89, passed away on April 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on April 17, 1936, Nelle lived a fulfilling life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nelle had a successful career, earning a master’s degree from National Louis University and teaching part-time at the local community college. She also worked with the federal government for 7 years and had a remarkable 32-year career with Sears Roebuck and Company in Chicago, Illinois.
Nelle was a well-traveled individual, having lived in Illinois, Texas, Germany, and Alaska. In her retirement, she resided in Phoenix, Arizona, and Pulaski, Tennessee. She was known for her love of reading, sports, bridge, movies, shopping, art, and music. Nelle was a devoted Christian and an active parishioner at St. Andrew Community Church.
She will be dearly missed by her three daughters, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Nelle was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Greene, as well as her parents and siblings.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm in the chapel. The burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, TN.
