Tennessee Unemployment Rate Steady at 3.6% in March 2026

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has announced that the state’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.6 percent in March 2026. This figure remains lower than the national unemployment rate of 4.3 percent for the same month.

In March, Tennessee added approximately 12,100 nonfarm jobs, with significant gains in healthcare and social assistance, accommodation and food services, and administrative and support services. Over the past year, employers in Tennessee have added around 9,200 nonfarm jobs. Notably, all but two of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported lower unemployment rates compared to February. Williamson County recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 2.5 percent, while Pickett County had the highest at 5.7 percent.

The state is set to release the unemployment figures for April on Thursday, May 21.
