Investigation Underway Following Shooting Incident in Lawrence County

On the evening of December 14, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., deputies from Lawrence County were dispatched to a residence located on Railroad Bed Pike in Summertown, which is situated near the boundary between Lawrence and Lewis Counties. According to a statement released by Sheriff John Myers, the situation escalated when two individuals entered the home without permission and initiated a confrontation with the homeowner. During this altercation, one of the intruders discharged a firearm at the homeowner before both suspects made their escape from the premises.

Witnesses at the scene were able to provide law enforcement with a comprehensive description of the suspects as well as details about their vehicle. Following this, deputies from Maury County successfully located the vehicle in the Mt. Pleasant area. In a subsequent encounter, the individual who had fired at the homeowner was shot and killed by the deputies.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the events surrounding this incident.
