Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Reported Break-In

On Friday, April 25th, authorities from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence located on Miller Lane following a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowner, who expressed concern over the theft of several items, most notably a 12-gauge shotgun, model 870. Unfortunately, the homeowner was unable to provide the serial number for the firearm, complicating the investigation.

The homeowner explained that he had been away from town and had entrusted his brother with the responsibility of watching over the property during his absence. A closer examination of the scene revealed signs of forced entry; specifically, a window on the back door had been shattered. Additionally, the dresser mirror in the bedroom was found broken, and there was further damage noted, including a broken window on the garage door. In the living room, a jar of jalapenos and an egg had been smashed on the floor, adding to the chaos of the situation.

The homeowner indicated that he would reach out to law enforcement should he discover any further items missing from his residence. He also expressed suspicion that a relative, other than his brother, might be involved in the incident, raising concerns about the motives behind the break-in.
