A tragic incident on Interstate 65 resulted in the death of one person on Tuesday, June 17th, as reported by the Maury County Fire Department. The accident took place shortly after 3:00 PM near the 36-mile marker on the southbound side of I-65. Upon arrival at the scene, fire department personnel discovered that one individual was trapped inside a vehicle due to a head-on collision.
Rescue unit 21 acted swiftly to extricate the trapped individual; however, despite their efforts, the outcome was fatal. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries. In the aftermath of the accident, I-65 was closed for about an hour to facilitate emergency response and investigation.
Responding to the scene were multiple units, including Engines 21 and 24, Rescue 21, OPS 20, Support 20, and Deputy 20, as confirmed by MCFD officials. Additionally, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Maury County Sheriff’s Department, Maury Regional Emergency Medical Services, and Maury County 911 were among the various agencies that provided assistance during this unfortunate event.
