Cretha Nell Hammond Russell, 84, of Killen, AL, passed away on June 19, 2025, at her residence. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother, and a cherished member of Killen Church of Christ.
Cretha is survived by her sons, Gary Russell (Anne) and Philip Russell, and her daughters, Kim Willingham (Phillip) and Missy Hester (Mark). She is also survived by her sister, Betty McGee (Jimmy), along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver Russell, her parents, James Robert Hammond and Katherine Isabel Hammond, as well as her brothers and sister.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Killen Church of Christ, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at the church. The burial will take place in Harrison Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include family members and close friends.
Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Cretha will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
