Catherine Henkel Pettus, 82, of Killen, AL, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born in Lawrence Co, TN, and was a retired Tax Preparer for H&R Block. Catherine was a devoted member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Florian.
Graveside Services will be held at Loretto Sacred Heart Cemetery on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Daniel Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the same day at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Catherine is survived by her two children, Kenneth Pettus Jr. & Wife Jacqueline of Killen, AL, and Melisa Bareis of Florence, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Logan Pettus & Wife Brooke of Killen, AL, Cameron Andrews of Birmingham, AL, and Cole Thompson of Florence, AL, as well as her great-granddaughter, Sutton Pettus, and her sister, Barbara Luna of Loretto, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Edward Pettus Sr., her parents, Leo & Mary “May” Henkel, and her brothers, James Henkel, Ambrose Henkel, and Royce “Tooter” Henkel.
