Dot Garrett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 1, 2025. She was reunited with her parents, William and Joanna Spivy, her brothers John and Douglas Spivy, her sisters Jo Ellen Haislip and Della Mae Rudd, and her baby girl, Sheila Fay.
Dot is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Foster Garrett, and their daughters Sheri (Steve) Putnam and Carla (Greg) Tinnon. She was a cherished “Nannie” to her five surviving grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Dot is also survived by her brothers Allen (Elaine) Spivy and Gordon (Diane) Spivy.
She was a woman of incredible talents, loving generosity, and immovable faith, embodying the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. Dot’s family will deeply miss her steady presence but find comfort in her example, knowing they will see her again.
Visitation for Dot Garrett will be held on January 3, 2025, at Bennett-May and Pierce Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow on January 4 at the Fairview Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Fairview Church of Christ Youth Group.
