Gladys Ashmore Smith, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Columbia, TN. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, known for her love and kindness. Gladys found solace in her faith and cherished her relationship with God throughout her life. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and fishing.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 70 years, Johnnie Smith of Columbia, TN; two daughters, Brenda Helms (Nelson) of Lincolnton, NC, and Susan Brink of Columbia, TN; one son, Richard Smith (Casper) of Spring Hill, TN; five grandchildren, Matthew Brink, Jonaustin Brink, Jessica Agostino, John Helms, and Kayla Martineau; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and Eula Mae Baker Ashmore, and her sister, Jean Henderson.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, with visitation scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, 2025, followed by interment at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.
