Mamie W. McKelvey, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 19, 2025. Mamie was born on January 2, 1933, in Oakland, AL, and was a lifetime resident of Florence, AL. She was known for her strength, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Mamie’s enduring spirit and sense of humor brightened the lives of those around her. She was a proud matriarch who instilled values of generosity, hard work, and love in those who knew her.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill McKelvey, son, Lee McKelvey, sisters, Betty Wood and Charlene Lee, and parents, Estelle and Charlie Foust. She is survived by David McKelvey, Marlene Valastek, Nancy Bowling, Lori Heathcoat, John McKelvey, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her spoiled fur baby Pepper.
A graveside service will be held at Walston Cemetery on March 21st, 2025, in Oakland, AL at 2pm. Mamie will be deeply missed and forever remain in our hearts. May her memory be a blessing and strength to all who loved her. Condolences can be left at www.elkinsfuneralhome.com.
