August 7, 1938 – January 31, 2025

Robert Franklin Midgett, 87, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. Robert was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing on his boat. He was the proud owner of Midgett’s Auto Service in Tuscumbia, Alabama for many years before retiring and pursuing his passion for driving a tour bus around the world.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Midgett; grandsons, Brandon and Cody; sister, Irene Holt; and brothers, Roy Midgett and Thomas Midgett; parents, Claude and Ruby Midgett. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Posey (husband, Kevin Childers); grandson, Taylor Posey; sister, Peggy Newman; one niece and several nephews.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Hospice of North Alabama for the love and care that they gave him during his long battle with cancer, with a special thanks to Daniel Freeman, Lisa Chandler, Tonia Judd, and Lindsey Rideout.
