Thomas A. Harwell, also known as Tommy by everyone who knew him, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on June 28, 2024, in his home in Morrow, Ohio. Tommy was born in Pulaski, TN on March 13, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents William Osborne Harwell and Vera Belle (Phillips) Harwell, Brother William Butler (Billy) Harwell, and Sister Mary (Harwell) Brock, surviving siblings include Edith Behel of Nashville, Rebecca (Becky) Harmon of Marietta, GA, and a host of friends that he called family.
Tommy married our Mom, Joyce Faye (Smith) Harwell on August 8, 1959 and she preceded him in death in 2010. Their children included:
Randy and Sam Harwell of Loretto, TN and grandchildren Heather and Deni Harwell, Heath and Pascal Vo, Haley Harwell, and Casey Werner.
Danny and Donna Harwell of Prospect, TN and grandchildren Danielle and Jess Harwell and Brandi (Harwell) and Mike Harmond. Great-grandchildren Kylie Renee Harmond, Lilly Belle Harmond, Dani Kate and Dylan Harwell.
Chase and Shawn Harwell of Morrow, OH and grandchildren Kelsi (Harwell) and Kenny Karoly and Abbi Harwell. Great-grandchildren Phillip and Bennett Karoly.
Tommy was fortunate enough to find love a second time with Marie (Holt) Harwell and son Roger Holt. She preceded him in death earlier in 2024.
Tommy loved his friends and family and enjoyed every minute with them. In his later years he “cut a rug” at the local dance hall where he danced three times a week. He enjoyed fishing and was put to shame by our mom on every fishing trip by “letting” her catch the biggest fish. He is now reunited with all the loved ones and friends who had gone on before and were awaiting his arrival to heaven.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. A funeral services will occur Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.
Thomas will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, Tennessee.
