William Sanders Stanton, Sr. Obituary
William Sanders Stanton, Sr., 97, of Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on February 2, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne Louise Brewer Stanton. William was the son of the late Layton Ferrell and Florene Cornwell Stanton.
A proud veteran, William served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as a dedicated employee at Gibson Greeting Cards. He was also a faithful member of Northside Methodist Church.
William is survived by his son, William S. Stanton, Jr. (Nancy) of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Nancy Anne Primeaux of Denver, North Carolina, and Carolyn Elizabeth Stanton (Vonnie) of Greenville, South Carolina. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tyler Stanton, Bryan Stanton, Kyle Stanton, Braidyn McNamara, and Zachary McNamara, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Layton Randall Stanton, and a granddaughter, Shannon Alexandria Meek.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on the same day, with interment to follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northside Methodist Church, 435 Summit Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609.
William Sanders Stanton, Sr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
