Betty Joyce Johnson Hughes, 93, of Loretto, Tennessee, passed away on July 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 21, 1931, Betty was a devoted homemaker and a cherished mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Hughes, her parents, Gerald and Ila Johnson, her brother, Donald Johnson, her sister, June Flatt, her brother-in-law, Alton Flatt, and her niece, Rhonda Killen.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Cindy Favors (Raymond) of Summertown, Tennessee, and her three sons, Steve Hughes (Penny) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Gale Hughes (Cathy) of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Randy Hughes of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Known for her loving and giving nature, Betty was adored by her family. She had a cheerful attitude and a happy spirit, and her love for her family knew no bounds. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cooking for her loved ones, and also had a passion for reading, sewing, and crocheting. Betty was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she played the piano for many years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Loretto Memorial Chapel, with the funeral service to follow. The service will be officiated by Steve Hughes, and Betty will be laid to rest at Restview Cemetery in Loretto. Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
