Billy Joe Spurgeon, age 89, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on Thursday, July 11th, 2024 at Countryside Health and Rehabilitation in Lawrenceburg. Billy was born on June 3rd, 1935 to the late Elmer and Mable Spurgeon. Billy worked for many years as a carpenter and brick mason, helping to build several of the buildings, homes, and churches we have come to know in Lawrenceburg. He was a faithful member of Deerfield Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his friend, Noah Shannon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Ruby Spurgeon; children, Letha Dawn Sollie and Gina Spurgeon; step children, Marty, Samantha, and Amanda; siblings, Donald Gene Spurgeon (Ruth), Martha Ann Bushman, Dola Clendenning (James); 5 step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The Graveside Service will be announced at a later time.
Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home is in charge of handling all final arrangements.
