Billy Ray Helton, Sr., age 86, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 01, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He was a beloved member of the community, having served as the Past President/CEO of Lawrenceburg Federal Bank and as a dedicated member of Pulaski Street Church of Christ. His contributions to the community were numerous, including his roles as a past elder, deacon, and teacher at the church, as well as his service as a past trustee for Freed-Hardeman University, a past Lawrenceburg Commissioner of Finance, and former Vice Mayor of Lawrenceburg.
Mr. Helton was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna Jackson Helton; his wife, Donna G. Abrams Helton; one brother, Gene Helton; and one sister, Betty Brewer. He is survived by his loving children: one son, Billy R. “Biff” Helton, Jr. (Penny) of Lawrenceburg, TN; three daughters, Angie Wright (Terry) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Andrea Helton of Maury County, TN, and Holly Winkler (Daniel) of Williamson County, TN; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 03, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home, located at 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Funeral services will be conducted at Pulaski Street Church of Christ at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 04, 2025, with Daniel Winkler and Jacob Evans officiating. Mr. Helton will lie in state at the church from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, TN.
