James O. Gray, 89, of Lawrenceburg, TN, passed away on June 7, 2025, at NHC Healthcare of Lawrenceburg. Born in Michie, TN, he was the owner of Grays Upholstery and a devoted member of the Baptist Faith. James was known for his love of hunting, fishing, and drag racing, earning him the nickname “Crappie Man.” He was a jack of all trades and will be dearly missed.
James is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Lucille Steadman Gray, three sons, Ricky Gray (Trisha) of Milton, FL, Barry Gray (Barbara) of Five Points, TN, and Scottie Gray (Wendy) of Summertown, TN, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Gray of Steele, MO, and sister, Glenda Wilson of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hubert and Bessie Goff Gray, and nine siblings.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and a private graveside service will be held at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to a charity of your choice in memory of James O. Gray.
