Mary Ruth McMurtrey Moore, 96, of Florence, AL, passed away on January 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was a dedicated employee of J.C. Penney’s Department Store and a cherished member of Stutts Road Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by her sons: Michael Herston (Connie), Jeffery Moore, and Richard Moore (Tammie); her sister, Doris Clanton; and her grandchildren: Keith Herston, Casey Herston, Skylar Moore, and Destin Moore, along with six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd E. McMurtrey and Mamie N. Butler McMurtrey; her husband, Alford Moore; her brother, Miley McMurtrey; and her sister, Hazel Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Tim Grigsby officiating. Mary will be laid to rest in Canerday Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Herston, Casey Herston, Shannon Clanton, Tim Clanton, Skylar Moore, and Destin Moore.
Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
