Rita Faye Jones, 71, of Goodspring, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at her home. She was born on July 25, 1954, in the Beech Hill community to Harold and Katherine Riggins Harwell. Rita was a devoted member of Friendship United Methodist Church and found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as being outdoors, watching Tennessee Football, and attending Gospel singings. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was babysitting them or simply having them visit.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Wayne Jones of Goodspring; her son Jeremy Jones (Susan) of Minor Hill; daughters Christy Hall (Brian) of Goodspring, and Shelley Herston (Jeremy) of Rogersville, AL; as well as her grandchildren Preston, Griffin, Gracie, Molly, and Lucy. She is also survived by her brother Stanley Harwell (Melanie) of Beech Hill; sisters Doris Alfifi (Steve) of Washington, and Connie Dodge (Arlen) of the Shores community. Additionally, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends mourn her passing.
Visitation will be held from 12-2pm on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 2pm. Rita will be laid to rest in Shores Cemetery.
Rita’s warm presence and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carr & Erwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
