William Luther “Bill” Smith, 92, of Summertown, TN, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at his residence. He was a retired mechanic from the Lawrence County School Bus Garage and a devoted member of Summertown Baptist Church. Bill was a native of Lawrence County, TN, and will be remembered for his dedication to his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Ethel Glass Smith; his wife, Betty Mae Clifft Smith; two sons, Jerry Wayne Smith and Tony Smith; one grandson, Justin Dickson; and two sisters, Mildred Mitchell and Elizabeth Bennett.
Bill is survived by his loving children, Joan Konig (Jimmy), Judy Dickson (Danny), and Jeff Smith (Linda); two daughters-in-law, Debbie Smith and Angie Smith; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will be at Freedom Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bill’s kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. His legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
