In a collaborative effort, deputies from Lawrence County joined forces with officials from Giles County and Alabama to capture two individuals involved in the theft of a tractor. The situation unfolded when a farmer in Lawrence County reported the theft of his tractor and subsequently shared the information on social media. This post prompted a tip-off to law enforcement after a concerned citizen spotted the stolen tractor parked behind a residence in Giles County.
Upon arrival at the location, deputies encountered two individuals outside, along with a vehicle occupied by two others. When officers instructed the driver, identified as 30-year-old Camryn Cagle, to halt her vehicle, she made the decision to flee the scene. In response, a deputy utilized her baton to shatter the driver’s side window, yet Cagle managed to escape. Records from the Department of Correction reveal that Cagle has a history of legal troubles, including convictions for criminal simulation, failure to appear, contraband possession in a penal facility, and two counts of theft of property dating back to 2017. Additionally, she had been sentenced to probation in Lawrence County.
Cagle was later apprehended in Limestone County. Meanwhile, deputies in Giles County are considering charges against her for resisting arrest, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment. Following the initial incident, deputies returned to the residence on Myrick Branch Road to further investigate the tractor theft. During this investigation, they arrested 34-year-old William Reynolds, who was implicated in the theft. According to officials from the Department of Correction, Reynolds has a criminal background that includes previous convictions for theft and firearms offenses. He was found guilty of two theft charges in 2017 and was also convicted in 2019 for being a felon in possession of a weapon. Recently, he had been sentenced to criminal probation in Lawrence County.
The arrest report indicated that Reynolds had attempted to sell the stolen tractor for $2,000. During the search of the premises, deputies uncovered burglary tools and substances that Reynolds later identified as cocaine. Ultimately, the stolen tractor was returned to its rightful owner, and both suspects were taken into custody.
