Donald (Don) “Pete” Latchem

Donald (Don) “Pete” Latchem, 75, of Killen, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, after an extended illness. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Elkins East Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 12 PM in the chapel with Bro. Kip McKee officiating. Mr. Latchem will be laid to rest at Greenview Memorial Park.

Pete was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church and had a fulfilling career as an Electrician at TVA, where he retired. He was also a proud member of the IBEW Local 558. Pete served his country with honor, first in the US Navy and later reentering into the US Army and National Guard, completing three different tours. Additionally, he was a valued member of the Center Star Volunteer Fire Department. Pete had a passion for spending time at his lake house and enjoying the peaceful pastime of fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Adalou Latchem, and his brother, Bobby Latchem. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy “Dot” Latchem; his children, Chris Latchem, Mike Latchem (Donna), Mona Gatlin, and Gwen Montgomery (Michael); his grandchildren, Reanna Gatlin (Austin Swindall), Taylor Latchem, Tyler Latchem, Maggie Grace Latchem, and Felisha Phillips (Michael); as well as his great-grandchildren, Scarlett Swindall and Bruce Ridinger.

The pallbearers for his service will be Taylor Latchem, Tyler Latchem, Austin Swindall, Perry Gooch, Dakota Wellington, and DeWayne Wellington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA, Parkinson’s, or Dementia/Parkinson’s Research.
