Michael “Mike” Booth Storey, 77, of Buckhead, Georgia, passed away on December 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 20, 1947, in Elkton, Tennessee, to Albert Elmo and Frances Loyd Storey, Mike led a life of service and dedication.
After graduating high school, Mike bravely served in the U.S. Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he married his beloved Shelby Jean Rodgers, and together they raised their son, Michael Anthony Storey, and were blessed with twin grandchildren, Alyssa Jade Storey and Lukas Alexander Storey.
For the past 34 years, Mike and Shelby have been residents of Putnam County, where Mike dedicated 15 years to volunteering with the fire department. His contributions included organizing the Sugar Creek FD and building Station 11, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
In his leisure time, Mike found joy in the company of family and friends, as well as indulging in his love for adventure, whether it was riding jet skis on the lake or exploring new places on his motorcycle.
Mike is survived by his wife, Shelby, his brother, Wilbur, his son, Anthony (Paula), and his grandchildren, Alyssa (Eddie) and Lukas (Kaylie). He was preceded in death by his sisters Judy and Carol.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 12:30-2pm at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 2pm. Interment will take place at Elkton Cemetery.
Mike will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of service and love will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Arrangements are being handled by Carr & Erwin Funeral Home, under the care of Sharon Dickey, Location Manager, Funeral Director, and Embalmer.
