Robert “Bob” Eugene Orton passed away peacefully in his home on April 23, 2026. Born June 20, 1949 in Lawrenceburg, TN although his mother always said he was actually born on the 19th because it was just before midnight despite the doctor saying it was after.
He was a husband to a few, a friend to many, and an outstanding father to his two sons, Staf and Wes, whom he loved more than words, speaking of them often and even in his adult years still referring to Wes as his “baby“. He wore proudly the badge of Papa to his three grandchildren- Canaan, Banks, and Baker Orton. Softened by the love for these babies, you could find him making promises of buying them whatever they wanted and on occasion attending princess tea parties.
Bob had many business ventures through the years, owning hang out spots, selling Olympic memorabilia at the Atlanta games, and creator of the “12th Titan” just to name a few. But he was most known for being a car salesman and golf cart concierge, retiring from the career a few years back to focus on his golf game and spend some of his boy’s inheritance money in Tunica as he often joked.
He was a 50 year member of the Elks Lodge, and a dedicated season ticket holder to the Tennessee Titans since their move to Nashville despite his empty threats during several seasons to not renew the following year. Bob loved sports and spending time with his friends, of which he leaves many behind but also joins many who like him left the party too soon.
Remembered for his wit, one–liners, and happy personality, he was a friend to everyone with a tender heart and a servant’s calling. Bob will be deeply missed. Until we meet again, pal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Elizabeth Orton; and brothers, Harold Orton and Dale Orton.
He is survived by two sons, Staf Orton of Clarksville, TN and Wes Orton (Lana) of Lawrenceburg, TN; one grandson, Canaan Orton of Clarksville, TN; and two granddaughters, Banks and Baker Orton of Lawrenceburg, TN.
