Mary Jo Thompson, age 87, of Pulaski, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at her residence. Mary Jo was born in Pulaski, TN, on October 11, 1938, to Paul Edward and Lilly Elmer Walls Journey. She was a salesclerk at National Store who found joy in everyday life. Mary Jo loved the simple comforts of home like cooking, cleaning, watching TV, or talking on the phone with her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Elmer Journey; husband Eugene Wayne Thompson; brothers Cecil Wayne Journey and Dale Journey; sister Betty Carr; grandson Jason Wayne Thorpe.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Wright’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wright’s Cemetery Fund.
Mary Jo is survived by her son Johnny Thompson of Pulaski; daughter Beth Rose (Mike) of Frankewing; grandchild Trent Thorpe (Marianne); great-grandchildren Lillie and Lauren Thorpe; sister Elaine Kellam of Pulaski; as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Carr and Erwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
